"Beloved Me Once again" is a hit song by English singer John Newman. The song was released as a digital download in Europe on 17 May 2013, except for the United kingdom where it was released on xxx June 2013 as the lead unmarried from his debut studio anthology, Tribute (2013). The song was written by Newman and Steve Booker and produced by Booker and Mike Spencer. The song was later featured on the soundtrack for video game FIFA xiv.

It was nominated for the Brit Award for British Single of the Year at the 2014 BRIT Awards[1] and nominated for the 2014 Ivor Novello Laurels for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.

Background [edit]

In an interview with Digital Spy, Newman was asked if he sensed that the song had something special about information technology in the studio. He said, "Yeah. The guy I wrote it with (Steve Booker), nosotros turned around and had massive grins on our faces thinking, 'In that location's something skillful here'. But you but never know how expert information technology is, you lot know?".

Newman was also asked if information technology was hard to write the lyrics nearly love and break-up, he said, "No, it's the only place where I really open up up to somebody, through my music. I'm producing [the album] and writing it, it'south good. I like to keep a hold of everything".[2]

With the chord progression of Gm—Bb—Dm—C, the vocal is written in the central of G Dorian. The fundamental signature is in D pocket-sized. Both are modes of F major, of which either one tin be used as the tonic note/chord, because, however, the F major chord is not present in the song.[iii]

Music video [edit]

2 music videos, both with elements of Northern soul dancing, accept been released for "Love Me Again". 1 version[iv] directed by Vaughan Arnell is based on the classic dearest story of Romeo and Juliet.[5] The woman in the video, Juliet, is French extra Margaux Billard, carefully watched over by her brother, Tybalt, played by Joseph Steyne. The Romeo, is British model Tommy-Lee Winkworth. This video ends in a bewilderment every bit they become run over by a truck and their fate remains unknown till Newman's follow-upwards single "Cheating", which starts with a newspaper article indicating that they had indeed survived the crash, which was a striking-and-run blow.

Another version features Newman, backed past musicians, singing in a dimly lit room.[6]

In popular culture [edit]

"Love Me Again" was featured on the soundtrack of video game FIFA 14,[viii] giving information technology a cult status among FIFA fans, also as the Federation'due south #WorldCupAtHome serial, which opened FIFA's archive during the COVID-nineteen pandemic. Information technology also appeared in the closing credits of the 2014 science fiction film, Edge of Tomorrow, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. The song was likewise featured on the American TV series, Suits in the episode, "Buried Secrets", which aired on 6 March 2014, and in the opening scenes of the first episode of season iv, "Ane-Two-Three Get", which aired 11 June 2014. "Dearest Me Again" is as well a playable song in Just Trip the light fantastic toe 2015. The song was likewise used as the theme to the television show Whiskey Cavalier which debuted in February 2019 and ended in May after one flavor.[9] In August 2020 and May 2021 it was used in TV and radio adverts for National Rail.

The French aqueduct TF6 also used this song to shutdown its channel.
